The results for the Bihar Assembly Election 2025 results are out. The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) swept to a resounding victory, gaining more than 200 seats and solidifying its hold on Bihar politics. By late evening, the NDA had secured 202 of 243 seats, putting Chief Minister Nitish Kumar firmly on course for a fifth straight term, extending his run as Bihar’s longest-serving leader.
Counting began at 8 am across all constituencies, with over 4,300 counting tables and nearly 18,000 personnel deployed for the job. Trends remained steady through the day as the BJP and JD(U) pulled ahead early and kept widening the gap, leaving the Mahagathbandhan trailing at just 33 seats.

Tejashwi Yadav held on to his Raghopur seat with a margin of more than 11,000 votes, but his alliance struggled statewide. Prashant Kishor’s Jan Suraaj failed to register a lead.
Modi reaches BJP HQ as celebrations break out
By around 6 pm, Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived at the BJP headquarters in Delhi, where senior leaders, including Amit Shah, JP Nadda and Rajnath Singh, joined party workers in celebrations. Across Patna, BJP and JD(U) offices witnessed early jubilation as supporters burst crackers and waved flags.
This election also saw a record of 67.13% voter turnout, which showed a strong public response from the two-phase polling held on November 6 and 11.

The NDA not only crossed the majority mark but also improved sharply on its 2020 tally of 122 seats. The BJP, JD(U), LJP, HAM and RLM all contributed to the alliance’s sweeping mandate. Formal results for several high-profile candidates, including Deputy CMs Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha, were awaited, but the overall verdict was already clear that Bihar has delivered a decisive mandate to the NDA.
