The Left in Bihar took a rather bold and interesting move by re-nominating all 12 of its current MLAs and introducing new faces in other constituencies.

In a move that underscores continuity and confidence, the CPI(ML) Liberation has once again nominated all 12 of its sitting MLAs for the November 6 & 11 elections. Among the prominent names are Amarjeet Kushwaha, Satyadeo Ram, Gopal Ravi Das, Sandeep Saurav, Shiv Prakash Ranjan and Mahboob Alam. The party said it had fielded fresh candidates in constituencies it lost in 2020.

Party General Secretary Dipankar Bhattacharya said the CPI(ML) Liberation “maintained the spirit of coalition”, though it had hoped to contest 24 seats but settled for 20 this time. He expressed confidence that the INDIA bloc will win with a “thumping majority”, saying the public is “tired of the NDA government”. "I am confident that the 'Mahatgathbandhan' will win the polls with a thumping majority. People are tired of the NDA government," CPI(ML) Liberation general secretary Dipankar Bhattacharya told PTI after releasing the list of candidates. These candidates include the likes of Dhananjay from Bhore seat, Amarjeet Kushwaha from Ziradei, Satyadeo Ram from Darauli and Amarnath Yadav from Daraunda.

Sources say that the party’s decision to limit its contest to 20 seats reflects negotiations within the INDIA bloc. While the CPI(ML) Liberation won 12 of 19 seats in the 2020 poll, this time it focuses on holding ground and making gains. The elections for the 243-member Bihar assembly are scheduled for phases on November 6 and 11, with counting on November 14.
