The BJP-led NDA moved into an early lead soon after the Election Commission of India began counting votes for the 243-seat Bihar Assembly Elections 2025 at 8 am on Friday.

By 8:45 am, the BJP was ahead in more than 60 seats, while the Mahagathbandhan was leading in at least 45 constituencies.

Key constituencies such as Lakhisarai, Alinagar, Buxar and Patna Sahib were among the seats where the BJP was leading, and Raghopur, Thakurganj, Amnour, Hajipur and Bodh Gaya were among the seats where the RJD was ahead at 8:30 am, also BJP’s Maithali Thakur is taking the lead, as per the NDTV trends website.

These remain very early trends, and it will likely become clear by evening which of the main contenders, the National Democratic Alliance or the Mahagathbandhan, is moving toward victory.

Although most exit polls have projected the ruling NDA as the clear winner, the Opposition Mahagathbandhan continues to express confidence in overturning the predictions and forming the government.

"We are optimistic that the BJP will gain the maximum number of seats this time in the Bihar Elections 2025. This will be our litmus test for the upcoming Bengal polls," said Bengal BJP leader Shankudeb Panda.
