'Litti-Chokha' preps in full swing across Bihar's party offices, election counting in full swing

As Bihar braces for the big day, kitchens across party offices are heating up almost as much as the election atmosphere.

From Delhi’s BJP headquarters, where litti–chokha and jalebis are already being prepped for what leaders hope will be a victory feast, to Mokama’s narrow lanes where RJD’s Veena Devi has her team rolling out rasgullas and traditional snacks, the aroma of celebration has begun to rise even before the first leads trickle in, per ANI.

The Election Commission began counting votes for the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections on Friday morning, setting Nitish Kumar’s JD(U) squaring off against Tejashwi Yadav’s RJD in the race for the 243-member House. Polling was held in two phases, on November 6 and 11.

Early trends have begun to sketch the first outlines of the day: the NDA is ahead by 85 seats, while the Mahagathbandhan leads by 57 as of 8:55 am. In Mahua, Tej Pratap Yadav has recovered from an early setback to inch ahead. In Imamganj, Hindustan Awam Morcha’s Deepa Kumari has held on to her lead from the very start. And in Raghopur, Tejashwi Yadav continues to maintain a comfortable margin.

The postal ballot count has also offered the BJP a quiet boost. According to early numbers on NDTV, Samrat Chaudhary is leading in Tarapur, while Maithili Thakur is firmly ahead in Alinagar.
