The grand alliance has finally declared its Chief Ministerial candidate formally. On Thursday, in affirmation of widespread rumors, Ashok Gehlot named Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav as the Chief Ministerial candidate. After the declaration, Tejashwi was heard talking about building a new Bihar. On the day, he stated, " We, the members of the grand alliance, are not on the field just to form a government or become Chief Minister. We want to build a new Bihar. That is why we are together. I would like to thank every member of the grand alliance for trusting me.”
There had been significant confusion among the alliance partners over seat-sharing. It was even rumoured that a section of the Congress was not willing to project Tejashwi as the CM candidate. But all these are now past. Lalu Prasad Yadav's son, Tejashwi, is the face of the opposition alliance in Bihar.
Recently, the press conference of the grand alliance was organised in Patna. Senior Congress leader and Congress observer for the Bihar elections, Ashok Gehlot, was also present there. Sitting beside Tejashwi, Gehlot mentioned that he is "young" and "committed" to politics. He reiterated that Tejashwi is the grand alliance's challenge for the BJP.
Gehlot also made a jibe at the NDA, stating, "I want to ask Amit Shah, our face is Tejashwi Yadav. Who is yours? Now it is also time for them to reveal who their Chief Minister face will be."
Gehlot also declared Mukesh Sahani as the Supremo of the Vikassheel Insaan Party, stating that other deputies' names will be declared later. Tejashwi Yadav thanked the alliance partners on the day and said that he would construct a new Bihar after his victory.
Regarding the NDA alliance, Tejashwi stated, "Every time before elections, Nitish Kumar is announced as the CM candidate. NDA fights elections with him at the forefront. But this time, that is not happening. BJP will not make Nitish Kumar the Chief Minister this time. Amit Shah has said this multiple times. Ultimately, it will be decided based on the majority in the legislature who will be the Chief Minister."
