Speaking ahead of the second phase of the Bihar Assembly elections, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav expressed confidence that the public mood in the state favours change. He criticised the Bharatiya Janata Party-led government for avoiding key issues like reservation and asserted that the electorate will again vote for a new government on November 11.

Changing mood and the election pitch

At a media interaction on Sunday, Tejashwi Yadav said: "Today is the last day of the election campaign. The environment is very good. The people of Bihar have voted for change, and they will do the same on 11th November. Whether it is the Prime Minister or any other minister, no one is talking about the reservation we gave during our government for 17 months. The Prime Minister has eaten up the 65% reservation of the people. They should talk about what they gave to Bihar and Gujarat,"

The RJD leader underlined that youths and backward groups, previously ignored, are now demanding basic rights and representation. The keywords here include change, reservation, voters, campaign and Bihar.

Allegation of neglect and the promise of turnaround

Tejashwi Yadav also referenced the first-phase voting turnout, asserting it signalled the public’s readiness to embrace a different government this time. Meanwhile his party, the Rashtriya Janata Dal, raised fresh concerns about alleged voting irregularities, publicising a video of VVPAT slips found near KSR College in the Sarairanjan constituency of Samastipur and dubbing the poll panel a “Thieves’ Commission”.

"A large number of VVPAT slips ejected from EVMs were found scattered on the road near KSR College in the Sarairanjan Assembly constituency of Samastipur. When, how, why, and on whose orders were these slips thrown away? Will the Thieves' Commission answer this? Is all this happening on the instructions of the democracy's dacoits who have set up camp in Bihar after coming from outside?" The party posted on X.

The second phase of polling is scheduled for November 11, and results are due on November 14. This time around the Bihar polls, Tejashwi is laying his emphasis on social justice, job creation and youth inclusion. Whether this will translate into votes remains a key question.
