Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) on Wednesday expelled 10 leaders, including Dehri MLA Fateh Bahadur Singh, after he decided to contest the upcoming Assembly polls as an independent candidate against the party’s chosen nominee.
This followed a massive purge on Tuesday, when the RJD showed the door to two sitting MLAs and 25 other leaders, including five former legislators.
State RJD president Mangani Lal Mandal confirmed the action in a statement, per PTI.
The statement noted that the leaders were expelled for “anti-party activities.” Among those named were state vice president Satish Kumar and former MLAs Gulam Jilani Warsi and Reyazul Haq Raju.
Meanwhile, many local leaders have voiced frustration over being sidelined or ignored during the nomination process in several constituencies.
BJP leaves no chance to taunt RJD
The BJP, sensing an opportunity, didn’t miss a chance to taunt the RJD. Taking to X, BJP IT cell chief Amit Malviya shared the latest list of expelled members and quipped, “At this rate, the party will soon be left without any workers as well as voters.”
Notably, Bihar will go to the polls in two phases: November 6 and November 11, with the counting of votes slated for November 14.
