Intense tension in Bihar moments before vote counting begins. On Wednesday, in the dead of night, the CCTV cameras of the strong room at Dinara assembly constituency in Sasaram suddenly went off. Taking advantage of this opportunity, a truck entered the area in front of the strong room. Extremely angered by the incident, candidates and supporters of that area started protesting. Extreme tension spread in that area. Police even resorted to lathi-charge to bring the situation under control. As a result, a candidate from Sasaram and a journalist were injured.
According to police sources, candidates and supporters of various parties gathered in front of the gate of Takiya Bazar Samiti late that night. It was alleged that the CCTV cameras inside the strong room and at the gate were suddenly switched off. As a result, they could not know what was happening inside. After this, they started protesting by raising allegations of EVM tampering.

In this situation, a truck entered the premises of Takiya Bazar Samiti. The truck stood there for about 3 hours. When the truck came out later, the protest became more intense. The protesters surrounded the truck and continued their demonstration.
At one point, the situation went out of hand. A large police force reached the spot. Police were forced to lathi-charge to disperse the crowd. Sasaram candidate Satyendra Shah and a journalist were also injured by police batons. However, the police have claimed that the lathi-charge incident was unreasonable and baseless.
Sasaram District Magistrate Udita Singh has informed that the truck belonged to Chenari assembly constituency and contained an empty box for keeping EVMs. She has sought answers from the officers in charge of that centre regarding the incident. Currently, police have been deployed at the gate of Takiya Bazar Samiti. Paramilitary forces are also present.
