The Karakat Assembly constituency comes under Bihar’s Rohtas district. Arun Singh is the CPI(ML)(Liberation) candidate, looking to hold the red flag high again. He has decades of experience and deep roots in the struggles. Singh is leading the party’s campaign in 2025, aiming to reclaim his mandate and reinforce the Left’s presence in a region which is marked by issues based on caste dynamics, agrarian misery, and shifting allegiances.

Arun Singh was first elected in the year 2000. He went on to serve multiple terms as MLA after being re-elected in 2005. He won the seat in 2010 but returned to power in the 2020 elections, defeating the BJP’s Rajeshwar Raj by a substantial margin of over 18,000 votes. Singh is a key figure in the farmers’ movement. He is the National Vice-President of the All India Kisan Mahasabha. Arun Singh is a Central Committee member of CPI(ML)(Liberation). It is a position that allows him both grassroots influence and national stature. He is currently leading by 2255 votes after 12 rounds of counting.

Vision for Karakat: Equality, and people’s power

Arun Singh’s campaign in Karakat is built on a foundation of people-centred politics. He plans to work for land rights, jobs, farmers’ interests, and a fair economy instead of any caste-based calculations. He thinks that struggle is not about short-term gains but long-term modification. Singh’s appeal comes from his lived experience, where he positions himself not just as a left-wing ideologue but as someone who understands the necessities and demands of farmers, labourers, and the rural working class.
