Bollywood's king Shah Rukh Khan has officially joined the billionaire club for the first time, with his net worth clocking $1.4 billion (₹12,490 crore), based on the Hurun India Rich List 2025. This makes Khan not only India's richest actor but also the world's richest actor, ahead of global stars such as Taylor Swift ($1.3 billion), Jerry Seinfeld ($1.2 billion), Arnold Schwarzenegger ($1.2 billion), and Selena Gomez ($720 million), according to a Hindustan Times report.

SRK’s wealth-building sources

Khan's vast wealth is largely a result of his entrepreneurial activities and not just acting only. His stakes in Red Chillies Entertainment, which is a leading production and VFX house, and Knight Rider Sports, the owner of the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) IPL franchise, as well as other international Knight Riders teams, have contributed significantly to his status as a billionaire. Anas Rahman Junaid, who is the founder and chief researcher of Hurun India, explained to the BBC, "Khan's billionaire status is driven mainly by his stakes in Red Chillies Entertainment (his production company) and Knight Rider Sports (his IPL cricket club).

These are supplemented by Khan's fortune from film ventures, endorsements, global real estate holdings, and investments in tech start-ups like the health app Nourish and live streaming service MirrAR. Khan also has an investment in the Indian subsidiary of indoor theme park KidZania.

Other Bollywood stars on the list

While Khan leads the Hurun India list, several other Bollywood personalities also rank high. Juhi Chawla, SRK’s longtime co-star and business partner, is placed second with a net value of ₹7,790 crore. Hrithik Roshan, an actor, places third at ₹2,160 crore, followed by director Karan Johar with ₹1,880 crore and Amitabh Bachchan, a veteran actor, at ₹1,630 crore, reports Hindustan Times.

Changing patterns of wealth creation in India

Khan's arrival in the billionaire club mirrors the changing dynamics of wealth in India. Anas Rahman Junaid pointed out that as the economy of the country is maturing, wealth is being generated more in the realm of sports, entertainment, and intellectual property-based businesses, over the conventional fields of manufacturing, banking, and IT. Junaid also compared it to the US, where the lists previously dominated by industrialists are now filled with owners of sports teams, media barons, and celebrity-owned businesses, mentioning Michael Jordan, LeBron James, Oprah Winfrey, and Beyoncé as examples.
