Fans of Shahid Kapoor’s digital debut, Farzi, have been waiting impatiently since its dramatic season one cliffhanger. Yet, despite the buzz, Amazon Prime Video has not announced a release date for season two. According to a report by HashTechWave, the delay stems from the creators’ busy schedules, ongoing projects, and the ambitious scale of production planned for the sequel.
Raj & DK’s other projects take priority
Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK, the showrunners, are busy with Rakt Brahmand and The Family Man 3, which have been long in the works. Farzi will stay on the back burner till these get finished. Raashii Khanna, who features as Megha, assured in interviews that the team is looking forward to coming back, but there have been shooting schedules getting in the way. Firoz's essayist Bhuvan Arora also mentioned that season two is still in pre-production.
Release and filming schedule has not been decided
According to reports, they will start filming by December 2025, with the release window shifting to mid-to-late 2026. With Amazon announcing a multi-language global rollout, huge dubbing, editing, and post-production will further lengthen the wait.
In spite of the slow pace, the tale teases bigger stakes. Season two will have deeper confrontations between Sunny and Michael, his revenge tale against Mansoor Dalal, and Megha's possible revelation of Sunny's identity. Viewers can also look forward to new dynamics between Michael's CCFART team and a potential crossover with The Family Man world.
With the main cast, including Shahid Kapoor, Vijay Sethupathi, Kay Kay Menon, Raashii Khanna, and Bhuvan Arora, aboard again, the wait might be a long one, but the reward seems to be worthwhile.
