To accelerate industrialisation in the state, the state cabinet decided to allocate land to two industrial organisations in Jhargram district. This proposal was approved at a meeting held at Nabanna on Monday under the leadership of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. This decision was taken based on the recommendation of the Standing Committee on Industry and Commerce, Infrastructure Development and Employment, according to Nabanna sources.
According to government documents, a total of 149.64 acres of land under the West Bengal Industrial Development Corporation (WBIDC) in two mouzas, Sukhnibas and Ghagrashole areas of Jhargram, is being allocated to two industrial organisations on a 'freehold basis'. The two organisations receiving the land are Captain Industries India Private Limited and UltraTech Cement Limited.
Deputy Finance Minister Chandrima Bhattacharya said that both organisations have expressed investment interest and have applied following all guidelines. The decision to allocate land has been taken in compliance with all rules of the state government. When this project is implemented, large-scale investment will come to Jhargram and ample employment opportunities will be created. She further said that under the Chief Minister's initiative, a favourable environment for industrial investment has been created in West Bengal, and this decision is part of that.
According to the state administration, once the land transfer process is completed, the two organisations will start their projects quickly. This is expected to further strengthen the industrial-based economic infrastructure in the Jhargram region. The state government is organising a conclave next month to highlight the success record of industries in the state.
