The festive season spans the entire month of October. Every week, various celebrations will be taking place in one corner of the country or another. On these occasions, multiple public and private sector banks will remain closed for several days in different parts of the nation. However, banks will not be closed simultaneously in all states. Let's take a look at which days this week various bank branches in Kolkata and West Bengal will have their shutters down.
Last week, banks in West Bengal were closed from Saptami to Dashami for Durga Puja. Subsequently, banks were open on Friday and Saturday. Banks are typically closed nationwide on Sundays. However, while banks will be open in all states on Monday, October 6, all banks in West Bengal and Tripura will remain closed. This closure in these two states on Monday is due to Lakshmi Puja.
After remaining closed on Monday, banks in Kolkata and across West Bengal will reopen on Tuesday. They will continue to operate until Friday. However, on the following Saturday (October 11), being the second Saturday of the month, banks will be closed nationwide.
Nevertheless, this week, banks will be closed in various other states due to local reasons. For instance, on Tuesday, October 7, banks will be closed in Bengaluru, Bhubaneswar, Chandigarh, and Shimla for Maharishi Valmiki Jayanti. On Friday, October 10, banks in Shimla will be closed for Karva Chauth.
