On the 29th, Chris Woakes made a post on his social media, announcing his retirement from international cricket. He was a member of England's World Cup-winning squad in 2019 and one of the pivotal figures behind their triumph. Regarding his retirement, he stated that he believes this is the right time for him to step away.
Woakes wrote, "The moment has come, and I've decided that the time is right for me to retire from international cricket."
Woakes represented England in a total of 62 Test matches, amassing 2034 runs and claiming 192 wickets. In ODI cricket, he scored 1524 runs while taking 173 wickets. In T20Is, he played 33 matches and took 31 wickets.
Chris Woakes was part of the 2019 ODI World Cup squad. His performance in the World Cup played on home soil was extraordinary. He took a total of 16 wickets in 11 matches.
