Pakistan faces a major setback ahead of the Asia Cup final. Pakistani bowler Haris Rauf is facing severe punishment from the ICC for his controversial celebration. The BCCI had filed a complaint with the ICC regarding the player's celebration during the Super Four match. Now, the ICC has taken action based on that complaint.
Reports suggest that the ICC will penalize Rauf. The report states, "Haris Rauf will be fined. He has used offensive language and made objectionable gestures." On the other hand, Sahebzada Farhan has stated that the gun celebration is common among his Pashtun tribe. For this reason, he has been declared innocent.
How did Farhan celebrate? After his half-century, he used his bat like a gun. India complained that this gun celebration insulted the Indians. Given the current situation between the two countries, such celebrations are deemed inappropriate. However, Sahebzada has claimed that this is how they typically celebrate. The ICC has issued a warning to him.
Meanwhile, while fielding, Haris Rauf made a gesture of flying an airplane towards the gallery and then dropping it. Everyone understood that he was alluding to Operation Sindoor. Reports suggest that the ICC may fine Haris Rauf 30 percent of his match fee.
The PCB also took retaliatory action. They lodged a complaint with the ICC against Suryakumar Yadav's comments on the Pahalgam attack and Operation Sindoor. However, the ICC has declared Surya innocent and cautioned him to refrain from making political comments in the future.
