Ravichandran Ashwin’s second innings: On track to make history

Another name of Ravichandran Ashwin is surprise. With the bat, he would confound opponents just as he would with the ball by making abrupt style changes. He left Test cricket in the middle of a series. Then, without warning, he stopped playing cricket altogether. Now, a new update on the second innings of Ashwin's cricket career has come to light.

At the time of retirement, Ashwin had indicated that he would play in other leagues around the world. Now that the league has been finalized. He will be seen in Australia's Big Bash League.

In discussions with BBL franchises

Reports reveal that Ashwin is in talks with four BBL franchises now. It is expected that he might sign a contract by the end of this week.

Ashwin is in discussions with Sydney Thunder, Hobart Hurricanes, Sydney Sixers, and Adelaide Strikers now. Although he won't be there from the start of the BBL, he will participate towards the end.

The report states that Ashwin will play in 3-4 matches this season. If his team reaches the final, Ashwin will play in the final as well. However, in the 2026-27 season, he will play for the entire season.

On path to create history

Ashwin will create history by playing in the BBL. He will be the first Indian male cricketer to play in the Big Bash League. The second phase of the Big Bash League will start on December 14 this year. It will end on January 18. On the other hand, Ashwin will also register for the ILT20 auction. The auction is scheduled for October 1. If he gets a team there, he might play. ILT20 will run from December 2 to January 4.
