August 29, 2025: India’s googly spinner Varun Chakarvarthy is celebrating his 33rd birthday today, August 29. The fans are showering wishes across social media.

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) posted a happy birthday post to wish Varun. KKR posted a static picture of Varun in a Kolkata Knight Riders jersey, which is fist-bumping with another avatar of Varun, who is an architect, defining his passion for cricket.

Varun Chakaravarthy is known for his passion for cricket, as he holds a bachelor's degree in architecture from SRM University. He used to play cricket in his childhood and his teenage years, but eventually got distant from the game. In 2021, at the age of 25, Chakaravarty quit his architecture job and decided to pursue cricket professionally.

KKR captioned their post, “Happy Birthday to the man who keeps batters guessing!

Here's to more wickets, magic & mystery in the year ahead!”

A fan under the post wished, “Happy Birthday, our Mystery Man, KKR's biggest hope in the last few years has been Varun Chakravarty, whose contribution to becoming the 2024 IPL champion is undeniable. KKR also posted a carousel post about Varun, showing “the journey behind the mystery”. Sharing the story of how he kept a foot on cricket and another on film, as he tried his luck in movies too. Later on, he chose bat over pen and made to ICC World Cup Indian Team squad 2025, and contributed to winning the cup.

Who is Varun Chakaravarthy?

Varun was born and brought up in Bidar, Karnataka, in 1991. His journey to cricket was anything but conventional. He is a graduate in architecture from SRM University. He quit his job at 25 to pursue professional cricket. He is a right-hand batter with a unique style of bowling as a leg-break googly bowler. He made his List A debut for Tamil Nadu in the 2018-19 Vijay Hazare Trophy on 20 September 2018.

Varun Chakravarthy has showcased remarkable T20I stats: 33 wickets in 18 matches at an average of 14.57 and an economy rate of 7.02.
