After the Asia Cup, it's time for the grand battle in the World Cup. On Sunday, October 5, India and Pakistan will face off in the Women's ODI World Cup match.

In the Asia Cup, India confronted Pakistan thrice. All three times, Jasprit Bumrah, Suryakumar Yadav, and company had the last laugh. However, more than the match results, multiple controversies dominated the discourse. On Sunday, cricket enthusiasts will be keenly observing whether Harmanpreet and her team shake hands with the Pakistani cricketers. But before this mega clash, the weather forecast is amplifying the concerns of cricket aficionados. Saturday saw the Australia-Sri Lanka match washed out.

Will the India-Pakistan encounter meet the same fate?

As per ICC regulations, India and Pakistan will clash at a neutral venue. Hence, this match is being hosted at the Premadasa Stadium in Colombo, Sri Lanka. On Saturday, not a single ball was bowled in the Sri Lanka versus Australia match due to rain. After nearly two and a half hours of waiting, the umpires were compelled to call off the game.

According to the weather forecast, there's approximately a 50% chance of rain until noon on Sunday. Although the precipitation is expected to decrease thereafter, the possibility cannot be entirely ruled out. The sky will remain 99% overcast. From 3 PM to 6 PM, there's a 20% chance of rain. Moreover, meteorologists have predicted intermittent showers throughout the day, from morning till night.

Such weather conditions will inevitably impact the wicket. Rain will slow down the outfield. However, if there's adequate time for the pitch to dry, the moisture content will decrease. Consequently, spinners might find assistance towards the latter part of the game. Nevertheless, if overcast conditions persist, pacers could also benefit from swing and movement.

If not a single ball is bowled due to rain, both teams will receive one point each. India, having won their first match, would reach 4 points. However, for Pakistan, securing one point on Sunday after losing their opening game would intensify the pressure on them.
