Another disruption on an Air India aircraft, when a flight from Colombo to Chennai was hit by a bird strike. Following the incident, authorities cancelled the return flight to Chennai. It is learned that on Tuesday, the Air India aircraft departed from Colombo for Chennai with 158 passengers.
It is presumed that the aircraft collided with a bird mid-air. When the aircraft landed in Chennai, the bird strike incident came to light.
Following the incident, airport authorities announced that all passengers were safely disembarked. Everyone remained unharmed.
After proper disembarking, Air India engineers examined the aircraft. Airport authorities provided assistance to them. However, following the incident, the flight from Chennai to Colombo was cancelled. Later, airport authorities arranged for passengers to return to Colombo on another aircraft.
Incidentally, this is not the first instance this month. This marks the second problem with an Air India aircraft within a matter of three days.
On October 4, an Air India Boeing flight from Amritsar in Punjab to Birmingham, England, encountered problems. Just before landing in Birmingham, the aircraft's Ram Air Turbine (RAT) suddenly deployed. This Ram Air Turbine technology provides additional power to the aircraft if the engine power suddenly decreases. However, despite the trouble, Air India authorities stated in a statement that all passengers were safely disembarked.
