September 6, Saturday: The Bar Council of India (BCI) will release the official notification for the All India Bar Examination (AIBE) XX soon. The registration process is live on the official website, allindiabarexamination.com. As per a report by CAREERS360, the national level test is expected to commence in the second or third week of December 2025. The Certificate of Practice (CoP) will also be awarded to successful candidates, which is required to practice law in India.

Key details about the notification and exam

According to CAREERS360, the AIBE 20 notice will have the full details of eligibility, syllabus, guidelines, and the schedule for registration. The offline test will be held in pen and paper mode at almost 150 test centres located in 50 Indian cities, with approximately 50,000 to 2.5 lakh candidates appearing for the test. The exam will cover topics such as constitutional law, criminal law, civil procedure, professional ethics, and new legal codes like the Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita.

The candidates belonging to the General and OBC categories will require a minimum of 45 percent marks, whereas SC/ST candidates will require a minimum of 40 percent, CAREERS360 further noted. The BCI will grant the certificate of practice to passing candidates and may be picked up from the concerned state bar councils.

Registration and application process

The AIBE 20 registration will be done online for a minimum period of two months. According to the step by step guide provided by CAREERS360, the candidates need to go to the official website of AIBE, register with the details, upload documents such as their LLB certificate and advocate ID card, and deposit application fees. Candidates should not wait until the last date to submit their applications.

With notification imminent, potential advocates are advised to remain vigilant, as this notification forms the last stage of preparation for thousands of law graduates across the country.
