The results of NEET-PG, the entrance examination for postgraduate MD-MS courses in medicine, were announced three months ago. However, proper counselling has not yet begun. Naturally, discontent is spreading among postgraduate aspirant candidates.
Although the registration process for the first phase of counselling has started, but the filling of choices for the first round has been postponed indefinitely. As a result, lakhs of candidates are spending their days in deep uncertainty, worried about their future.
About a month after the results were announced, the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) started the registration process in September and announced document verification for candidates. Accordingly, the first phase of seat allotment was supposed to start from November 6, and the scheduled date for announcing the final results was November 8.

However, at the last moment, MCC postponed the counselling process indefinitely. Since then, MCC has not made any announcement about this. MCC is also not providing any information about when the counselling process will resume normally.
According to sources from the Central Health Ministry, the National Medical Commission (NMC) has not yet been able to finalise the seat matrix regarding how many MD-MS seats are being approved across the country this year. As a result, it is not possible for MCC to complete admissions through counselling. Central health officials have marked this as the reason behind the delay. Due to this delay, doctor candidates have vented their anger on social media.

Expressing anger on X handle, a doctor named Sumit wrote in a post stating, Same story every year. MCC fails to do their work on time. While another doctor named Bharat Rathor expressed that NEET-PG counselling now means a test of patience. The heart trembles with every refresh button. Knowledge helps pass the NEET-PG exam. But patience helps pass NEET-PG counselling.
Calling this repeated delay a 'repetitive process', Aman Maurya remarked that this is the result of a lack of coordination among three top medical organisations— National Medical Commission (NMC), National Board of Examiners (NBE) and Medical Counselling Committee (MCC).'
