The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has reported a significant response to its re-evaluation and answer-book verification process following the declaration of Class 10 and Class 12 results.
According to board officials quoted by News18, students submitted more than 1.6 lakh requests related to over 3.8 lakh answer books through the online portal.
Thousands seek verification of answer books
Data released by CBSE shows that the re-evaluation portal recorded over 1.6 lakh applications involving more than 3.8 lakh answer books. The requests were made under various categories, including obtaining photocopies of evaluated answer sheets, verification of marks and re-evaluation of answers.
The board had introduced a revised system this year, allowing students to first obtain photocopies of their evaluated answer books before deciding whether to seek verification or re-evaluation. The change was aimed at giving students greater transparency in the assessment process, as per News18 reports.

Revised process sees strong participation
Officials indicated that the new sequence of steps generated considerable interest among students and parents. By accessing copies of their answer books first, candidates were able to identify specific concerns before applying for further review.
The board's data suggests that a large number of students chose to make use of the facility, leading to a substantial volume of requests being processed through the portal. The figures cover applications received from both Class 10 and Class 12 students after the announcement of board examination results.
The Application Window for Verification and Re-evaluation remained fully functional throughout the notified period from 2 June 2026 to 7 June 2026 under the supervision and management of government technical agencies and teams from the IITs. During the above application period,

CBSE outlines review mechanism
Under the current system, students can first obtain scanned copies of their evaluated answer books. After reviewing them, they may apply for verification of marks if they believe there has been an error in totalling, posting of marks or omission of any response.
Candidates who remain dissatisfied after verification are also allowed to seek re-evaluation of specific answers. This step-by-step mechanism is intended to help students make informed decisions rather than filing review requests without examining their answer sheets.

Processing of requests underway
CBSE has begun processing the large number of applications received through the portal. The board is expected to complete the review process in accordance with the timelines announced for verification and re-evaluation.
The high volume of requests highlights the growing use of the board's digital review system and the importance students place on ensuring the accuracy of their examination results. With more than 3.8 lakh answer books covered under the requests, the exercise represents one of the largest post-result review processes undertaken by the board in recent years.
