Himachal Pradesh University to hold B.Ed counselling on Oct 8-9, state announces overseas job drive

Himachal Pradesh University will conduct offline counselling for vacant B.Ed seats under the state quota on October 8-9, while the state government is set to launch a special overseas recruitment drive.

Himachal Pradesh University (HPU) has announced an on-spot offline counselling round for admission to B.Ed. courses in vacant seats under the HP quota. The counselling will be held on October 8 and 9 at the Centre for Distance and Online Education (CDOE), HPU, Summer Hill, Shimla. It will cover admissions for the Department of Education, Government College of Teacher Education in Dharamshala, and self-financed B.Ed. colleges affiliated with HPU for the 2025-27 session.

"Consequent upon the approval of the Vice-Chancellor, an on-spot offline counselling round for admission to B.Ed. Programme in remaining vacant seats under HP Quota in the Department of Education, H.P. University, Summer-Hill, Shimla, Government College of Teacher Education, Dharamshala, Kangra, and Self-financed B.Ed. Colleges affiliated to Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla, for the Session 2025-2027, have been scheduled to be held on October 8th and 9th at 11:00 a.m. onwards in CDOE, H.P. University, Summer Hill, Shimla-05," Co-ordinator Central Committee, B.Ed. Admission said in a letter, according to an ANI report.

According to the official notice, eligible candidates with 53 marks for unreserved and 45 marks for reserved categories in the B.Ed entrance test can apply online from October 4 to October 7. Applications may also be considered during the counselling sessions. The process is expected to ensure that vacant seats are filled efficiently before the academic year advances.

In a parallel initiative, the Himachal Pradesh government announced a special overseas recruitment drive to be held on October 9 at the Government Polytechnic, Hamirpur. Organised by the Himachal Pradesh State Electronics Development Corporation (HPSEDC), in collaboration with the Labour & Employment Department, the Department of Technical Education, and a Ministry of External Affairs-registered agency, the drive will provide international employment opportunities for youth.

Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said the effort is aimed at making Himachal’s youth globally competitive and self-reliant. The recruitment will cover both technical and non-technical roles abroad. Detailed guidelines on eligibility and required documents will be released on employment offices’ portals, social media platforms, and the HPSEDC website.
