CBSE announces tentative dates for Class 10 and 12 board exams 2026

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced the tentative date for the Main Board Examinations 2026 for Classes 10 and 12 to help students and for schools to move ahead accordingly. Exams are set to take place from February to July.

CBSE has announced the tentative date sheet for the 2026 board exams, which are the board exams for classes 10 and 12. The date sheet includes the main, supplementary, and second board exams. There an approximately 45 lakh students who are set to appear in around 204 subjects from India. The release looks forward to helping students plan preparations, and the school administration to plan accordingly.

Exam schedule and key details

The board exams will start on 17th February 2026. The board exams are starting with Mathematics for Class 10 and Biotechnology for Class 12. The exams will go on till the middle of July, with the supplementary exams for Class 12 ending the session. Exams will start from 10:30 AM to 1:30 PM. The date sheet ensures uniformity across all examination centers.

The schedule involves all the subjects covering vocational, academic, and language subjects. The exams for class 10 will include standard and basic levels of Mathematics, core subjects, and vocational courses such as retail, security, and food production. The class 12 students will appear in the test for subjects like fields including Physics, Chemistry, Business Studies, Psychology, and specialised subjects like Engineering Graphics, Dance forms, and Music.

Benefits and preparations

The tentative date sheet will help students to plan effectively for their preparation and also plan their revision time strategically. Schools can better let teachers know about their duties for examination and evaluation. The evaluation of answer sheets for each subject will start tentatively 10 days after exam completion and is aimed to finish within 12 days. CBSE has said that the date sheet is tentative and the final confirmation will come after submission of candidate lists by schools. It asks the students to depend solely on official notifications for proper updates and to avoid any kind of misinformation.
