September 17, Wednesday: The screenings, the timeframes of which are to be organized between September 16 and October 2, should promote thinking about the significance of character, service, and responsibility among students.
“It will help young learners to reflect on themes of character, service, and responsibility. The film can also serve as a case study for moral reasoning, and support the goals of social-emotional learning, developing empathy, self-reflection, critical thinking, and inspiration,” the ministry said on September 11 in a communication, per Indian Express.
Part of the Prerana programme
The initiative is linked to the ministry’s new experiential learning programme called ‘Prerana’, which focuses on nine sets of human values. These include Swabhiman aur Vinay (self-respect and humility), Shaurya aur Sahas (bravery and courage), Parishram aur Samarpan (hard work and dedication), Satyanishtha aur Shuchita (truthfulness and purity), Karuna aur Seva (compassion and service), Navachar aur Jigyasa (innovation and curiosity), Vividhta aur Ekta (diversity and unity), Shraddha aur Vishwas (faith and belief), and Swatantrata aur Kartavya (freedom and duty).
The ministry said that with Prerana, they can “help bring abstract values, life stories, historical contexts, ethical dilemmas, and human emotions to life.”
Chalo Jeete Hain is regularly featured in Prerana. The 2018 film, inspired by true events from Modi’s early years, won the National Award for Best Non-Feature Film on Family Values at the 66th National Film Awards.
The ministry said, “within Prerana programme, the film has already left a deep impression on participants, who have internalised its message and reflected it in their attitudes and actions.”
The film is also being re-released in cinema halls nationwide between September 17 and October 2, coinciding with the Prime Minister’s 75th birthday celebrations.
