The registration process for the UGC NET December 2025 has been announced by the National Testing Agency (NTA). Across the spectrum of Indian universities, applications have been invited for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF), Assistant Professor eligibility, and PhD admissions.
NTA's online application link for the exam is now live at ugcnet.nta.nic.in and will remain so until7th of November 2025. The UGC NET (National Entrance Test) is one of India's most sought-after national exams. It tests how good candidates are at teaching and research across multiple subjects.
Eligibility and criteria
The released notification by NTA mandates for the candidate possess at least a master’s degree or equivalent qualification from a recognized university. While there are no upper limits for the Assistant Professor category, the JRF aspirants are required to meet the age limits as prescribed by the UGC.
Application process and fees
In order to register, applicants are required to visit the above-stated website and fill in their details, which shall range from personal details, academic details, uploading the mandated documents, and lastly completing the payment in online mode. Category-wise application fee is listed below:
₹1,150 for General/EWS/OBC (Non-Creamy Layer),
₹600 for OBC (NCL)/EWS
₹325 for SC/ST/PwD candidates.
Exam details
As is the norm, the Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode will be used to conduct the UGC NET December 2025 exam. A total of 85 disciplines across various streams will be covered. This exam serves as the eligibility test for whether the applicant can become an Assistant Professor. This exam also sets the bar for qualification for JRF, which opens doors to teaching and research careers.
Preparation and updates
Experts and previously those qualified for JRF recommend that in order to succeed, the candidates first and foremost should master the syllabus, then dissect previous papers, and lastly simulate exam conditions with mock tests. NTA is to release admit cards closer to the date of the examination.
