Jadavpur University has launched a specialized Advanced Diploma course in Industrial Safety and Environmental Management for engineers and other working professionals aspiring to gain advanced knowledge about workplace safety and environmentally friendly practices. The university has officially issued a notification stating the programme will indeed be launched as an Advanced Diploma with three semesters.
The program is a collaborative effort of the School of Environmental Studies and the Department of Mechanical Engineering. With a professional orientation, the program will emphasize study in a broad gamut of subjects such as safety engineering, risk assessment, inspection and control techniques, sources and measurement of pollution, fire engineering, and explosion control. In addition to theoretical teaching, students will acquire practical skills through lab classes.
Classes will be conducted in the evenings, between 6:00 PM and 8:15 PM, for the ease of working professionals. The overall fee for the course is ₹50,000 plus GST, to be paid completely at the time of admission.
Eligibility for admission will be established through a combination of academic performance:
- Marks obtained in Class X
- Marks obtained in Degree or diploma courses
- A personal interview.
Preference will be given to applicants with professional experience. Importantly, there will be no written admission test.
Admission will be conducted in two phases. Following the first phase of enrollment, a second phase will be organized to include additional candidates. The application process is fully offline. Candidates interested in applying have to send their application forms, accompanied by required documents, by post to the address mentioned in the university's notice. The last date for applications is September 9, 2025.
