The Ministry of Education has launched Viksit Bharat Buildathon 2025, India’s largest student innovation movement, in collaboration with Atal Innovation Mission (NITI Aayog) and AICTE. Launched officially on September 23, 2025, by Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, the program aims to encourage students of Classes VI to XII to innovate for Atmanirbhar Bharat, Swadeshi, Vocal for Local, and Samriddhi.
Registration for Viksit Bharat Buildathon 2025
The registration is done entirely online and is cost-free. Schools are required to register on the portal vbb.mic.gov.in and form student groups of 5–7 members. Schools can register more than one group, and every submission has to be made electronically in the form of project ideas, concepts, photographs, or prototype videos. The application deadline is 6th October 2025. All participants will recieve digital participation certificates from the Ministry of Education once they have registered.
Steps to Register:
- Go to vbb.mic.gov.in.
- Schools register and create student teams of 5–7 members.
- Upload project concepts, concept notes, or prototype information.
- Submit entries within the deadline.
- Save confirmation of participation and certificates.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Students of Classes VI to XII from India are eligible.
- Teams should comprise 5–7 students at the same school.
- Each team is guided by a teacher mentor in the preparation phase.
- Entries could be in the form of concepts, prototypes, or working models.
- Aspirational district, tribal, and remote area schools are particularly encouraged to apply.
- Judgment will be conducted by a national jury of former Chiefs based on innovation, feasibility, and social value.
Themes of Viksit Bharat Buildathon 2025
The Buildathon has four broad themes that correspond to India's long-term development objectives:
- Atmanirbhar Bharat: Fostering indigenous, self-reliant technological solutions.
- Swadeshi: Reviving and updating traditional knowledge systems.
- Vocal for Local: Fostering local industries, crafts, and products.
- Samriddhi: Fostering inclusive growth and sustainable prosperity.
Why does it matter?
More than 1 crore students from more than 1.5 lakh schools are expected to participate in the Viksit Bharat Buildathon 2025, which makes it a platform for nation-building rather than just a competition. t prepares young students to make significant contributions to India's goal of Viksit Bharat @2047 by fostering their creativity, problem-solving skills, and entrepreneurial spirit.
