The West Bengal Police Recruitment Board (WBPRB) held the Sub-Inspector (SI) preliminary examination 2025 on October 12 at several centres of the state. The 1-hour half-yearly exam, which was conducted between 12 pm and 1:30 pm, was in the conventional offline OMR-based mode and contained 100 multiple-choice questions (MCQs) on General Studies, Logical & Analytical Reasoning, and Quantitative Aptitude.

Exam pattern and analysis
The 2025 prelims examination carried 200 marks, with two marks awarded for each correct answer. As per preliminary reaction of the candidates, overall level was moderate. General Studies covered Indian Polity, current affairs (national and West Bengal-specific), and Bengal History. Reasoning was moderately difficult, with puzzles, coding-decoding, and series-based questions. Quantitative Aptitude was medium to hard, with an emphasis on arithmetic concepts like percentages, profit and loss, and speed, time, and distance.
Senior aspirants observed that the time limit of 90 minutes required careful time management, particularly in the reasoning section. Candidates approximated that 70–75 good attempts would get them a competitive score for the next round.
