Jadavpur University declares closure on operations amid Kolkata rainfall and water-logging crisis

Following the directive from West Bengal Higher Education Department, Jadavpur University will remain closed on September 24 and 25.

Jadavpur University has announced a two-day closure on September 24 and 25, 2025, following the directive from the West Bengal Higher Education Department, due to heavy overnight rainfall and forecasted inclement weather.

The circular stated "In view of the order of the Higher Education Department, Government of West Bengal vide Order No. 699-HED-17014(99)/186/2025-CS-SEC dated 23.09.2025, the University will remain closed (except emergency services) on 24.09.2025 and 25.09.2025 and the Puja vacation is preponed accordingly considering the heavy rainfall last night and due to the forecast of inclement weather for the next two days. The Heads of the Administrative/Academic Departments and Faculty Members may open their Department/Laboratory / Section for urgent administrative/research activities on these two days with due permission as per rule and complying all safety requirements as issued by the competent authorities from time to time."
