Friday, 22nd August: On Friday, The Supreme Court of India paved the way for the release of the long pending West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination (WBJEE) 2025 results by staying an earlier Calcutta High Court order.
According to Telegraph India, A bench led by Chief Justice B.R. Gobind Singh passed the order after hearing a plea by the state government. The Calcutta High Court, in its August order, had directed the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board (WBJEEB) to cancel its merit list and draw a new one, implementing a 7% reservation for Other Backward Classes (OBCs) based on a pre-2010 definition of 66 communities. The order was passed by Justice Kaushik Chanda.
With the intervention of the Supreme Court, WBJEEB can now proceed to publish results that had originally been lined up for August 7 but were put on hold because of the legal battle.
How candidates can check their results
WBJEEB has declared that the results will be released soon on its official website, wbjeeb.nic.in. To see their scorecards, the candidates have to log in through their application number and password. They are requested to download and maintain a hard copy for counselling and admission purposes in the future.
As per Hindustan Times, WBJEEB had also opened a special window between August 18 to 21 for SC, ST, and OBC candidates to upload valid caste and community certificates on its portal.
Although the Supreme Court has suspended the order of the High Court, lawyers have pointed out that the larger issue regarding OBC classification is still being heard by the highest court. Until then, though, the judgment means that thousands of contestants will no longer suffer uncertainty and can now anticipate their results without further ado.
