September 4, Thursday: The Bengal Files, shares chronicles of the tragic events surrounding Direct Action Day on 16th August, 1946 in Calcutta. The filmmaker Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri's The Bengal Files is the final installment of his truth-exposing trilogy, following The Tashkent Files and The Kashmir Files. While the film's teaser had already gone viral across the country, the release of the trailer was yet another smackdollop of its uncompromising spirit of truth, leaving audiences awestruck.
With the film set to be released tomorrow,5th September, producer-actor Pallavi Joshi has penned a letter to the President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu, to ask for her help in ensuring that the film is released in Bengal, as multiplex chains have supposedly refused to screen it following political pressure.

Pallavi Joshi also used her social media to include a note addressed to President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu, insisting that she protects their constitutional right and facilitates the release of the film in Bengal. Along with the note, she used the caption -“URGENT APPEAL – Your Excellency, presidentofindia, As Producer of #TheBengalFiles, I am pained that multiplex chains in Bengal have refused the film’s release under political pressure and threats by the ruling party. I plead for your intervention to uphold my constitutional rights and ensure its release in Bengal. Cc: @narendramodi @hmoindia @mib_india @ashwini.vaishnaw”.
She wrote, "This is cinema of truth. But truth also needs protection. Madam President, I seek not a favour for a film but space for art, for truth, for Maa Bharati's soul to speak without fear.
You are my final hope. Please protect our constitutional right and let The Bengal Files be shown in West Bengal peacefully.
