A BJP leader from Ayodhya has filed a complaint to the Information and Broadcasting Ministry and the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), seeking a ban on the upcoming Hindi film The Taj Story starring Paresh Rawal. The leader, Rajneesh Singh, claimed that the film is based on a case that he had filed on the Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court related to the Taj Mahal.

Complaint filed with the I&B Ministry and CBFC

In his complaint filed on Monday, Singh asserted, “I filed a PIL (Public Interest Litigation) for opening the 22 closed rooms in the Taj Mahal. My objective was solely to ensure transparency and verification of historical facts. I have come to know that the movie The Taj Story is based on the subject of my petition.”

He also alleged that the film’s poster, promotional content and the storyline refer to the judicial matter and his petition in a “misleading” way, without his prior permission. Singh further added, “This is a violation of my intellectual and legal rights. The commercial use of a judicial matter is also inappropriate.”

Urging authorities to suspend its censor clearance and halt its public release, he added, “The screening of such a film may not only affect the judicial process but also create unnecessary tension in social and religious sentiments.”
