Deepika Padukone, one of Bollywood's most celebrated stars, proved once more that confidence and authenticity get a person a long way. The actor, who was once ridiculed for her peculiar voice and accent when she entered the film industry, is now making global headlines for the same reason- she has become the new voice of Meta AI across several countries.

Speaking at CNBC's Global Leadership Summit, Deepika reflected on how life has come full circle. "I am someone whose voice was sort of mocked when I came into the industry, and now suddenly, I am the voice of Meta AI- strange! And my accent, but I continue to own it. I think that's probably how and why it happened," she said with a smile.

As per a report by the Hindustan Times, Deepika's collaboration with Meta is the first for an Indian celebrity. In this partnership, users can now speak with Meta AI in English using her voice across India, the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, and New Zealand.

‘You can’t infuse soul into AI’

While she is excited about this new venture, Deepika shared her thoughts on artificial intelligence and its limitations. “I am so excited about the possibilities; the only thing I believe it cannot replace is human emotion. I think that is the only place where AI will not be allowed or will not be able to match up. Barring human emotion and how an actor would emote, because you can't infuse soul into AI.”

The actor last month shared the news excitedly on Instagram, "Okay, so this is pretty cool, I think! I’m now part of Meta AI, and you can chat with my voice in English across India, the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand. Try it and let me know what you think!"
