Veteran Bollywood actor Dharmendra, who turns 90 soon, has been admitted to Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital for a routine health check-up on Saturday.

As per a report by the Economic Times, the news initially sparked concern among fans, but those close to the Deol family assured there is “nothing to worry about.” Reports suggest the iconic Sholay star is undergoing standard tests as part of his regular medical schedule.

The report said that a family source said that he is in good spirits and went for his routine tests, dismissing any health scare.

Both Sunny and Bobby Deol are said to be keeping in touch with doctors and closely monitoring their father’s condition despite their ongoing film commitments.

According to a report by the Hindustan Times, a source related to the family said, "Yes, Dharmendra is at Breach Candy Hospital, but he is absolutely fine. The actor frequents the hospital for regular check-ups. He must have been spotted there by someone, which led to unnecessary panic."

A personal choice for convenience

The report also says that according to the insider, Dharmendra chose to stay in the hospital for a few days to complete all his medical tests together rather than travel every day. “Dharmendra undergoes multiple routine tests that usually take around two to three days to complete. Given that he is 89, daily travel can be tiring at this age. Hence, he himself chose to stay at the hospital and finish all the tests at once instead of commuting back and forth each day”, the source added.

Family keeps a close watch

While maintaining their hectic shooting schedules, Sunny and Bobby Deol keep a regular check on their father's condition. As per the report, the source said, “His sons, Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol, who are currently occupied with their respective film shoots, are keeping a close eye on their father’s health and staying updated on the medical tests and the results.”

Married to actor-politician Hema Malini, Dharmendra will turn 90 in December. Earlier this year, he underwent successful cataract surgery. On the work front, he was last seen in Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya (2024) alongside Shahid Kapoor and Kriti Sanon. The veteran actor will next appear in Sriram Raghavan’s Ikkis, a war drama based on the life of Param Vir Chakra recipient Arun Khetarpal, starring Agastya Nanda, Jaideep Ahlawat, and Sikandar Kher. The film is slated for release in December.
