Actor and former Bigg Boss 7 winner Gauahar Khan has called out contestant Tanya Mittal for her body-shaming remarks against Ashnoor Kaur in Bigg Boss 19. The incident, which took place during a recent task, has sparked outrage among fans and viewers, many of whom are demanding action from the show’s makers.
During the episode, Tanya was heard referring to Ashnoor as “haathi” (elephant) and “moti” while talking to fellow contestant Farhana. Her comments didn’t go unnoticed and soon clips from the live feed began circulating on social media. The backlash was swift, with fans labelling Tanya’s behaviour “mean-spirited” and “insecure.”
Gauahar Khan calls Tanya’s comments ‘disgusting’
Taking to Instagram on Friday, Gauahar posted a video expressing her disappointment. Speaking in Hindi, she said, “Initially, I used to think Tanya was sorted, innocent, a little dramatic — and quite entertaining. I still find her entertaining, but the way she’s been body-shaming Ashnoor behind her back is absolutely disgusting.”
Gauahar further condemned Tanya’s remarks and added, “Everyone has the right to feel beautiful. If you put others down to make yourself feel prettier, then you’re not beautiful at all. Khoobsurat hone se zyada, khoobseerat hona important hai. (More than being beautiful, being good-hearted matters).”
Her video quickly went viral, with many viewers and celebrities applauding her for speaking up against body-shaming on national television.
What went down in the Bigg Boss 19 task
The controversy unfolded during a captaincy task between Pranit More and Shehbaz Badesha. While Ashnoor supported Pranit, Tanya played for Shehbaz. During a scuffle in the garden area, Tanya whispered to Farhana, “Farhana dekh itna bada haathi,” and later told Neelam, “Bohot moti hai yaar.” Neelam added, “Bohot aggressive bhi hai, moti toh hai hi.”
Although Ashnoor didn’t hear the remarks, fans watching the episode were quick to react. Social media flooded with criticism against Tanya, accusing her of body-shaming and disrespect.

Weekend ka Vaar awaits Tanya
Fans are now waiting to see if host Salman Khan will address the issue on Weekend Ka Vaar. Meanwhile, Pranit emerged as the new captain after a decisive win with support from Abhishek, Gaurav, Mridul, Malti, and Ashnoor. Except for Abhishek, Ashnoor, and Mridul, all other housemates have been nominated for eviction this week.
