‘Gentleman’ Shah Rukh Khan helps Nitanshi Goel as she trips on stairs at Filmfare Awards

Shah Rukh Khan’s gentlemanly instincts were on full display at the Filmfare Awards when Nitanshi Goel stumbled on the stairs.

The 70th Filmfare Awards celebrated the finest people of Bollywood on Saturday, October 11. Nitanshi Goel's performance in Laapataa Ladies earned her the Best Debut Female trophy at the 2025 Filmfare Awards. Filmmaker and Producer Karan Johar and actor Shah Rukh Khan served as the event's hosts. Akshay Kumar, an actor, gave Nitanshi the award. Several videos of this award moment are going viral, as Nitanshi trips on the stairs, and Shah Rukh Khan, as usual, being a gentleman, helped her to make way.

In a video on X, as Nitanshi stepped forward to accept her prize, Shah Rukh was seen to reach out to her, making his way to the stairs. Shah Rukh descended a short flight of stairs and held out his hand to greet her. Nitanshi grabbed it, but stumbled right away. She was swiftly saved by Shah Rukh, who took both of her hands. As she steadied herself, a smiling Shah Rukh in a black outfit and a tearful-eyed Nitanshi in a long yellow dress with a train exchanged brief words. Shah Rukh walked behind her and held the train of her dress as she entered the stage. After that, he carefully put it down while Akshay gave her her prize. Karan Johar embraced her and inquired about her well-being. Then he gave her a head kiss while grinning.

Netizens react to Shah Rukh's gesture. One person commented on the thread, "Poor thing seems nervous. Happy for her." Reacting to the post, another commented, "Almost had a Jennifer Lawrence fall. Some might say it’s good luck for your career, "Another one wrote, "How I would love to fall while Shah Rukh is catching me too”. An X user said, “Shah Rukh is such a gentleman. Oh, this is too darn sweet.”

Nitanshi's film debut

Nitanshi, at the age of 18, made her Bollywood debut with Kiran Rao's ‘Laapataa Ladies’ and got the award for same.It tells the tale of two young brides who become estranged while traveling by train in rural India in 2001. Additionally, Pratibha Ranta, Ravi Kishan, Chhaya Kadam, and Sparsh Shrivastava play important parts.
