September 15, Monday: Bollywood actor Paresh Rawal has confirmed that he will be teaming up with Akshay Kumar and Suniel Shetty once again for the highly anticipated Hera Pheri 3. The actor, who plays the beloved character of Baburao Ganpatrao Apte, had previously announced he was "sick and tired" of the character and stepped out, leaving fans disheartened. According to Mint, Rawal clarified that he has put the past behind him and is set to move ahead with the film.

Rawal also announced that the movie is set to begin early next year. "It's a work in progress. We’ll start shooting for the film in February-March 2026," the actor informed News18. Putting to rest rumour about his strained relationship with director Priyadarshan, he said, "Through all this, we now know each other in a sharper and better way. Ghaav bhar gaya hai (The wound has healed). Our relationship is very transparent."

Mint pointed out that Rawal's return has rekindled enthusiasm among fans who have been patiently waiting for the franchise's third installment. The movie is set to be released in 2026, although the official date has not been announced.

Baburao spin-off and thoughts about previous movies

When questioned about a Baburao spin-off, Rawal said no to the idea, saying in a conversation with News18: "We haven’t discussed a spin-off on Baburao. A film is a collaborative effort. I don’t think Baburao can exist on his own. You’ll need Shyam and Raju, too.”

The actor also looked back at Phir Hera Pheri (2006) and said he was disappointed with what happened, but appreciated Suniel Shetty for maintaining his character with sincerity.

The original Hera Pheri, released in 2000 and directed by Priyadarshan, remains a cult classic. With Priyadarshan coming back to direct Hera Pheri 3 under Akshay Kumar's production house, Cape of Good Films, anticipation is running high for the trio’s comeback.
