The teaser of Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups, starring Yash and directed by Geetu Mohandas, was unveiled on Thursday, offering a fierce first look at a film steeped in violence, spectacle and swagger. The action drama is scheduled to release in theatres on March 19, 2025, setting up a high-stakes box-office clash with Dhurandhar 2.

Produced by KVN Productions and co-produced by Yash under his banner Monstermind Creations, Toxic marks the actor’s return to the big screen after a four-year gap.

A brutal, stylised glimpse into Yash’s world

The teaser begins with a ominous statement – “This war will be different” – before moving on to some surreal images of a Royale Circus, along with some extreme close shots of Yash’s character, Raya. A voice warns him to give up, since there is no hope for survival if he decides to take a stand against the world.

This is followed by a series of action-packed images – some explosions, gunshots, blood-soaked fights, and some intense hand-to-hand combat. In one of the most chilling moments of the teaser, Yash gets up from a bathtub and begins a brutal attack, shouting, “It’s over when I say it’s over.” The last image is even more gruesome, as it ends with a graphic violence.

Yash’s return after KGF

Toxic marks Yash’s first release since the massive hit KGF: Chapter 2, directed by the talented Prashanth Neel, which ruled the box office in 2022. Interestingly, for this film, Yash has also penned the screenplay, along with Geetu Mohandas.

The technical team brings together several heavyweights. Action choreography is led by JJ Perry, known for John Wick and Fast & Furious, with additional stunt work by Anbariv and Kecha Khamphakdee. Music is composed by Ravi Basrur, while cinematography is handled by Rajeev Ravi. Editing duties are carried out by Ujwal Kulkarni.

Ensemble cast and box-office face-off

The film also features Nayanthara, Kiara Advani, Huma Qureshi, Rukmini Vasanth and Tara Sutaria. First-look posters of the cast had already generated strong buzz, and the teaser is expected to amplify anticipation further.

Speculation had been rife that Toxic might shift its release date to avoid clashing with Dhurandhar 2, the sequel to Dhurandhar, which starred Ranveer Singh and emerged as one of 2025’s biggest hits. However, the makers of Toxic have reiterated that the March 19 release date remains unchanged.
