Bill Gates makes a surprise appearance on Smriti Irani’s Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi 2, joining Tulsi via video call for a special episode on maternal and child health.

In a crossover no one saw coming, Microsoft’s former CEO and philanthropist Bill Gates is set to appear as a special guest on Smriti Irani’s popular television show Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi 2. The upcoming episode focuses on maternal and child health which is a cause Gates has long championed through the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.

The show’s makers have released a promo that’s already creating waves online. In the video, Gates is seen speaking to Smriti Irani’s iconic character, Tulsi, over a video call and greeting her with a warm “Jai Shri Krishna.” Sharing the clip, Star Plus wrote, “This time between the story of #KyunkiSaasBhiKabhiBahuThi , a new relationship is connecting - of health, empathy, and change. And the world's biggest changemaker is connected to this story - Bill Gates,

With a thought: May every mother and child be safe and healthy.

During their on-screen conversation, Irani’s Tulsi greets Gates and says, “It feels wonderful to know that you’re connecting with my family all the way from America. We’ve all been waiting for you.” Gates responds with a smile, saying, “Thank you, Tulsi ji.”

The promo has taken social media by storm, with fans thrilled by this unexpected pairing where on one side we have the tech world’s global icon alongside Indian television’s most beloved bahu. Many viewers have called it a “surreal and nostalgic moment,” recalling the original show that ruled the early 2000s.

Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi 2 premiered on 29 July 2025, marking Smriti Irani’s return to the screen after years in politics. Just like its first season, the reboot has been well appreciated and welcomed by the audience. Speaking about her comeback, Irani said, “Returning to this show isn’t just about acting. The original Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, which was produced by Ekta Kapoor’s Balaji Telefilms, first aired in 2000 and ran successfully for eight years, setting benchmarks in Indian television history.
