Undoubtedly, Tom Cruise is the most admired actor in Hollywood, not just for his acting or charms also for his little gestures. Dakota Fanning recently revealed that Tom Cruise has been sending her a pair of shoes every year, as a thoughtful tradition that’s continued for nearly two decades since they worked together on ‘War of the Worlds’.
The 31-year-old actress, Dakota, shared the story during her appearance on ‘Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen’ on Thursday, November 6, alongside Brittany Snow, while promoting their new Peacock series ‘All Her Fault’.

When Cohen asked if Cruise still sends her gifts, referring to her earlier comments about the annual shoe presents, Fanning confirmed, “Yes, he does.”She shared more details, she added simply, “Really nice shoes, yes.”
Snow, appearing intrigued, asked, “I have so many questions.” Fanning laughed and said, “It’s really as simple as that. He’s just always given me shoes.”
After that, Brittany Snow tried to find out more, “But are they sneakers? Are they, like…?”, then, Fanning clarified, “They’re nice shoes.”
She also mentioned that Cruise has even kept up with her changing shoe size over the years: “It has changed over the years, and he’s adapted.”
Their bond dates back to 2005, when Fanning played Cruise’s daughter in Steven Spielberg’s ‘War of the Worlds’. Fanning was just 11 then, and the father-daughter connection they portrayed on-screen carried into real life.

Tom Cruise gifted Faninng her first phone
As People noted, Cruise’s generosity didn’t stop there. In an April 2024 ‘Harper’s Bazaar’ interview, Fanning revealed that Cruise gave Fanning her first-ever cell phone to use — a Motorola Razr — for her 11th birthday. She shared, “I loved having it. I loved it. I felt so cool.”
From that moment on, the tradition continued. Every year since, Tom Cruise has sent her a new gift — most often, a fresh pair of shoes. For Fanning, it’s a small but meaningful reminder of the lasting bond they formed years ago, one that has remained strong even as their careers took different paths.
