Billboard, a globally reputed music publication, is all set to enter the Indian market in early 2026 in association with Other Side Ventures Pvt. Ltd. This is a major step toward bringing India's rich musical heritage onto the world stage and recognising both mainstream and independent artists.
As per a report by the Outlook Respawn, Priyanka Khimani, the media advisor and the brain behind Other Side Ventures, has stated that Billboard India seeks to bring "one unifying voice" and a "world-class experience" to the country's music scene. The platform will shed light on the current talent, measure growth, and celebrate the expanding landscape of Indian music.

Following HYBE's expansion in India
The launch comes shortly after HYBE announced its India plans that include a Mumbai office to train artists on the K-pop model for both local and global audiences. HYBE has already begun connecting with fans through its official Instagram handle, @hybeindia.
Why is Billboard eyeing India’s booming music market?
The report states that according to market analysts, the digital music space is thriving, and the country's music streaming business is likely to reach around US$5.1 billion by 2033. Though film soundtracks continue to rule about 80% of the industry, the entry of Billboard India signals growing recognition for independent albums, singles, and concerts.
Various Indian artists have already gained popularity internationally. Ananya Birla’s English single Meant to Be (2017) received Platinum status in India, while Diljit Dosanjh’s albums G.O.A.T., Moonchild Era, and Aura have made it into various charts, including the Billboard Social 50, Billboard Canadian Albums Chart, and Billboard 200. Dosanjh also became the first Indian on the cover of Billboard Canada in 2024.

Furthermore, Kerala-born rapper Hanumankind's track Big Dawgs made it to the Top 10 of the Billboard Global 200 and appeared on the Billboard Hot 100 at 57, while also reaching Spotify's Global Top 50.
Looking Ahead Billboard CEO Mike Van described the music scene of India as "one of the most dynamic and culturally rich in the world," adding that Billboard's expansion will help position the country as a global music hub. Billboard India will operate from Mumbai, while editorial details will be announced later.
