Weekly Shonen Jump has experienced a rush of big manga conclusions in 2025, but one of its recent farewells is accompanied by some thrilling news for readers. Kill Blue by Tadatoshi Fujimaki concluded officially with its chapter 115 in the magazine. Nevertheless, the series will continue in a new form of a new anime adaptation that will premiere in 2026.
As reported by ComicBook.com, Hiro Kaburagi (Great Pretender, Kimi ni Todoke) will be directing the anime, with animation provided by CUE, and Miho Daidoji (Kuroko's Basketball, Kimi ni Todoke 3rd Season) doing the character design.
A bizarre second life brought to animation
Kill Blue traces the life of Juzo Ogami, a 39-year-old mythic hit man who has never lost a job. After a strange wasp stung him, Juzo finds himself in the form of a 13-year-old boy. Directed by his master to spy on a middle school in his new body, Juzo is left to navigate a life of disorder, eccentric classmates, and impending dangers.
In a statement published by ComicBook.com, author Tadatoshi Fujimaki was thankful: "I am deeply grateful to all the readers who have supported Kill Blue. Seeing Juzo's strange new school life brought to animation is a dream come true."
A timely victory for Shonen Jump
This anime reveal is a huge confidence booster for Shonen Jump, which has witnessed a number of its titles conclude this year, such as Undead Unluck and Mission: Yozakura Family. Since Kill Blue wrapped up organically, its entire story provides the anime with a clear blueprint for adaptation.
With other brief shows such as Black Torch also planned for anime spin-offs, the trend hints that even briefer or axed manga can get a second chance on the screen, giving supporters new hope for their beloved series.
