Limp Bizkit bassist Sam Rivers passes away at 48

Nu-metal band Limp Bizkit's founding member and bassist, Sam Rivers, has passed away at the age of 48, according to an Instagram post by the band.

In the post, the band shared that the post has been made in the loving memory of Sam Rivers, a brother, a bandmate and the band's heartbeat.

Rivers was one of the founding members of Limp Bizkit along with vocalist Fred Durst, drummer John Otto, guitarist Wes Borland and DJ Lethal, who set the tone of the band through his music during the late 1990s and early 2000s. The band's post also added, "Sam Rivers wasn’t just our bass player — he was pure magic. The pulse beneath every song, the calm in the chaos, the soul in the sound."

Founded in the year 1994, Limp Bizkit is a band originating from Jacksonville. The band became famous for their influence in electronic music, metal, blended heavy music, hip-hop and punk genres and rose to fame in the early 2000s.

The post revisited the memory from the band's early days. It added that Sam brought a light and rhythm that could never be replaced. Coupled with his effortless talent, unforgettable presence and enormous heart. It also talked about the moments shared during Sam's presence, "We shared so many moments — wild ones, quiet ones, beautiful ones — and every one of them meant more because Sam was there.'

The tribute was signed by all the band members, yet the cause behind River's death has not been disclosed.

In the Instagram post, they said, "We love you, Sam. We’ll carry you with us, always. Rest easy, brother. Your music never ends."
