Alice in Borderland has grown into one of Netflix’s most successful Japanese series globally. With its gripping survival games and psychological twists, the show has often been compared to Squid Game. The shorter episode count and off-manga plotline make this new season one of the platform’s boldest bets this year.

The second season, released in December 2022, ended on an abeyant suspension. The characters of Arisu and Usagi, played by Kento Yamazaki and Tao Tsuchiya, respectively, were seen to be able to make it back to the real world and seemed ready for a happy future, until the camera revealed a Joker card, teasing more jeopardy forthcoming.
