The post went so far as to claim, “Today, the most beloved person in the world cinema, all of our hearts, has passed away, especially our generation, a worthy actor, a great Kung Fu player, the man with a funny laugh, Jackie Chan, has passed away.” It even included an image depicting him on what appeared to be a hospital bed, according to Life&Style.

Netizens debunk hoax
Fans quickly debunked the hoax, though the incident underscores how quickly AI-generated misinformation can spread online. On X, one user asked, “Why is Facebook tryna kill off Jackie Chan??” while another expressed frustration: “Omgggg Facebook lies about ever d**n thing.” Another person humorously noted, “Internet trying to kill Jackie Chan today,” and one fan wrote, “Thank God I checked Twitter about Jackie Chan because I was about to tweak.”
This isn’t the first time Chan has been falsely reported dead. Over the years, similar claims have circulated repeatedly across Facebook, X, and other platforms. In August 2025, a manipulated image suggested he had died in a Beijing flood, allegedly confirmed by his wife, Joan Lin. However, no credible source reported such an event, and the image was confirmed to be AI-generated, according to Life&Style.
