Miley Cyrus reveals engagement to Maxx Morando after four years together

Miley Cyrus has officially confirmed her engagement to longtime partner Maxx Morando, days after the couple prompted speculation with a striking diamond ring at the world premiere of Avatar: Fire and Ash in Los Angeles. The singer, 33, appeared on the red carpet with Morando on Monday, where the ring, set on a thick gold band was photographed prominently on her left hand.

The confirmation was first reported by Page Six and People and later acknowledged by Cyrus herself. The premiere also holds personal significance for her, as her song Dream As One features in the film.

The pair posed together at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, with fans and photographers quickly zeroing in on the ring. Rumours had already begun circulating in mid-November after Cyrus was spotted wearing the piece during her birthday celebrations.

Speaking to People, Cyrus said she is “very happy” entering this new chapter. When asked about the engagement, she shared that she has been “astounded” by the privacy she and Morando have managed to maintain throughout their relationship.

“The detail that I can share is that for us, our privacy and us kind of keeping it small has been something that I've been astounded that I've actually been able to have and being able to kind of have more choice,” she said. “I think it's also being older, being more protective of what I'm open to sharing.”

Cyrus also noted that the themes of Avatar: Fire and Ash which is love, resilience and the strength of togetherness that resonated with her current phase in life. “It felt perfectly aligned with where I am now,” she said.

How Miley and Maxx’s relationship began?

The couple were first romantically linked in December 2021 after being seen together backstage during Miley’s New Year’s Eve Party in Miami. Their relationship became more public in April 2022 when they were photographed kissing in West Hollywood.

The engagement ring was confirmed by Francesca Simons, a representative for jewellery designer Jacquie Aiche, who said Jacquie created the cushion-cut stone set in a 14-karat yellow gold band.

Morando, 27, is a drummer for the band Liily. Cyrus was previously married to actor Liam Hemsworth from December 2018 until their divorce in August 2019.
