1. Taylor’s 4 million triumph
Taylor Swift just smashed records with The Life of a Showgirl didn’t just hit, it exploded: 4.002 million equivalent units in week one in the U.S., making it the biggest single-week debut in modern history. She looked back to her first week in 2006 (40,000 copies) and thanked every fan who made this possible, from streaming to vinyl to reading her poetry in the packaging. 2. Kylie enters the music ring
Kylie Jenner just dropped her first-ever vocal feature on Terror Jr’s new single “Fourth Strike”. She’s officially stepping into the music world. She wrote on Instagram how nervous she was but grateful and addressed the decade-old rumor that she was the secret voice behind “3 Strikes”, she says now, it’s really her. 3. Farewell to a neo-soul Legend: D’Angelo
Michael Eugene Archer who is known to the world as D’Angelo, has passed away at age 51 following a courageous, private battle with cancer. He was a foundational voice of neo-soul: Brown Sugar (1995) launched him, Voodoo (2000) cemented his legacy, and Black Messiah showed his resilience. His family’s statement was poetic: “The shining star of our family has dimmed … we are eternally grateful.” Tributes are pouring in from fellow artists, fans, and music critics honoring his deeply soulful, fearless artistry.
4. Nancy Meyers Mourns Diane Keaton
Diane Keaton’s passing has moved Nancy Meyers, her friend and longtime collaborator, to share a heartfelt tribute. “I lost a friend of almost 40 years,” Meyers wrote publicly. She called Keaton “a brilliant actress who time and again laid herself bare to tell our stories," and said as a filmmaker, she lost a connection she’d only dreamed of having. 5. ‘In the Beginning Was the Water’ — Venice Beckons
Composer Nico Cartosio and the Italian Philharmonic Orchestra, joined by the Opera di Parma Choir, created the concert film “In the Beginning Was the Water” amid the art-laden canals of Venice (summer 2024). Set in the Scuola Grande di San Giovanni Evangelista, lined with masterworks by Bellini, Tiepolo, Tintoretto, the film uses water as a metaphor for life, memory, rebirth. Cartosio explained: “I chose Venice because it’s a city that literally grew out of water. And for me, water is not just an element, it’s the memory of time.” Here's the video.
