Tom Cruise and Ana de Armas have reportedly gone their separate ways after a brief but much-publicised romance. The split, first reported by The Sun and Movie Talkies, comes just months after speculation that the two were planning a grand “sky wedding”.
A source told The Sun, “Tom and Ana had a good time together, but their time as a couple has run its course. They are going to remain good friends, but they aren’t dating anymore. They just realised they weren’t going to go the distance and that they are better off as mates.”
Hollywood’s ‘sky wedding’ dream grounded
Rumours of an aerial wedding, which was supposedly planned aboard a private jet or during one of Cruise’s mid-air film shoots, had set social media abuzz earlier this year. The idea, reportedly inspired by Cruise’s Top Gun and Mission Impossible persona, now looks to have been another piece of Hollywood fantasy.
The two met through mutual industry friends and quickly hit it off. Sources close to the couple said their chemistry was “undeniable”, but conflicting work schedules made it difficult to sustain the relationship.
Moving on, professionally
While fans are still processing the breakup, both stars appear to be focusing on their careers. Cruise is preparing for his next action film, while de Armas is tied up with several international projects. The duo, however, are expected to share screen space in an upcoming film, despite their personal split.
The breakup, though mutual has left fans divided with some mourning the end of Hollywood’s newest power couple, others calling it inevitable given their fast-paced lives.
