Eleven days after singer Zubeen Garg’s tragic death, his wife Garima Saikia Garg has broken her silence. Following the completion of the singer’s last rites in Assam, Garima addressed the media, calling her husband’s death “mysterious” and demanding a proper investigation.
Garima claimed that Zubeen had no knowledge of the Singapore yacht party that took place before his death. “If he had known, he would have definitely told me. He didn't know about the yacht party. I hope the investigation will look into this and give us answers,” she said.
Garima hints at negligence
Garima alleged that Zubeen might have been neglected in his final moments. “What actually happened to Zubeen Garg, we don't know. How it happened is still a mystery. We need answers. He was the victim of negligence, that much is certain. But why was a person like him neglected? We want all the answers. I have faith in the investigation,” she stated, while expressing faith in the investigation process.
The singer reportedly suffered from occasional seizures and was on medication. “Whenever he had a seizure, he needed his medicine. His manager knew that. I had given him the medicines before the trip,” Garima added.
She further mentioned that Zubeen’s manager Siddhartha Sharma, musician Shekhar Goswami, and members of the Assam Association were present on the yacht. “Zubeen was not supposed to go near water or fire due to his condition. In the video, he looked exhausted. The people with him should have taken responsibility and pulled him out,” she said, indirectly hinting at possible lapses by those accompanying him.
Zubeen Garg had travelled to Singapore on September 18 to attend the North East Festival. The next day, he was reportedly injured during a scuba diving session. Found unconscious in the sea, he was rushed to a private hospital where he was declared dead.
